The PMI has significantly changed its approach towards PMP examination training. Until the end of 2020, PMI was following a program called Registered Education Providers( R.E.Ps) to evaluate and approve PMP exam preparation training. The training providers could develop their own training materials. Now, with the introduction of the Authorized Training Partners(ATP) program, PMI is bringing more consistency with the training content and enforcing instructor-led training delivery.

Can I still use old( pre-2021) on-demand training material?

Starting Jan 2, 2021, erstwhile training materials and offline video contents cannot be used to earn 35 contact hours required for the PMP certification. Instead, you need to take instructor-led training from the ATPs to get those 35 contact hours. But, if you have earned those 35 contact hours BEFORE Jan 2, 2021, the PMI will honor them when you apply for PMP certification in 2021. Those contact hours do not expire. You can still use those old materials such as recorded training as additional study aids. But do not assume complete content coverage with respect to the new exam content outline.

- The PMI develops the course materials and provides them to the ATPs. The PMI centrally maintains the training content and makes them available to all their authorized partners.

- The instructors of Authorized Training Partners( ATP) must undergo the PMI provided train-the-trainer courses to qualify to teach the PMI developed course material. Once completed, instructors will receive an Authorized Training Partner Instructor badge to show they are approved by PMI.
- The entire course contains about 35 hours of content, delivered in 5 days live sessions.
- Completing the course earns you 35 contact hours required to apply for the PMP exam. Note: According to the PMI policies, the candidate cannot miss more than one live session during the course. There is an option to cover up the missed sessions by watching recordings of the live session. If you miss more than one live session, you will not be eligible to receive 35 contact hours.
